6/27/09– Coming back from California in ’07 we had some troubles in security. Granddad always got the extra searches from security– ALWAYS. So, he did what they asked, we got on our way through the terminal and he suddenly noticed he didn’t have his watch. I ran back to see if it got left in the tray but could not find it. We got on the plane, got to Chicago. As we were walking through to get to the place to get the United Limo bus he started saying that his foot hurt. When we got to the terminal he took his shoe off and there was his watch, all foot-sweaty. He flew all the way home and didn’t notice it until Chicago. We laughed about that half way back to South Bend.
6/24/09– I spent hours and hours over the past several years talking to Granddad. We talked aout everything– politics, current events, love, kids, history, the Navy, you name it– we probably talked about it. He wasn’t an elderly person who was “stuck” in the past, not by any stretch of the imagination! He had a computer, had trouble using it but sometimes when I would go over there we would get online and look up Navy stuff. I had a few pages saved on his desktop so he could easily click on them and read, look at pictures, and browse around on his own time. He wanted to learn to use it more, he was in awe of the amount of information you could get online. On this page I will be posting some of those stories. If you have any, email them to me and I will post them too.
*Granddad and oldest great-grandson Tristan at Bubba Gump’s in San Francisco. We spent his last two birthday’s out there.
