About this site…

I worked with the Parks Department of Mishawaka to plant a tree and place a plaque below it for Granddad in Mary Gibbard Park which is across the street from his house. He loved to sit on his porch and watch the kids play, the birds at his feeder and say hello to everyone who walked by.

I was fortunate enough to have a landscaping company in New Carlisle Indiana donate and plant a 13 foot maple tree that will grow to be like the one in the front yard that Grandad loved so much. Because of the generosity of family, friends and the community, I was also able to have an 18″x10″ bronze plaque made and placed in the ground below the tree with his name, a short saying and an image of Granddad on it, and finally was also able to purchase a six foot long “locker room” style bench for people to stop and sit on to watch the kids play either in the pool or on the playground. The cost for everything was approximately $1500.

Thanks for stopping by and please keep checking back, as I will be updating the site regularly with  my progress on my grant proposal for elderly awareness, stories and photos about Granddad and Grammie and research I am currently doing for crimes against the elderly legislation.
