In about 24 hours I have gotten almost $400 in donations or pledges for donations, which puts me about 1/3 of the way to the amount I need. I am very touched by the thoughtfulness of everyone who has donated or contacted me to donate. I can’t express how much it means to me! I will be able to go “tree shopping” next week and get that part of the project done. When I do get the tree and plant it with the Parks Department, a good friend of mine has offered to film it and do a short news-type story (editing, voiceover and all!) so I will be able to add it to this site so those out of town can see the results.
Tomorrow or Saturday, there will be a story in the South Bend Tribune as well. I will post a link here as soon as it is up on their website.
